Business Ethics

In the simplest sense of the word, ethics studies the value judgements which are universally valid and are accepted as universal in human relations. Business ethics, on the other hand, encompasses the moral principles developed in order to guide the behaviours in the business world.

Companies today hold great powers as one of the most important components of the economy. Within this perspective, the efficacy and success of companies will further increase the welfare level of the society.  Companies influence society not only through their economic power but also through the goods and services they produce. Therefore, they bear responsibility towards each other and also towards their employees, customers, the state, society and other societies.  Long term success for a company is about reliability and practising ethical behaviors within this scope.  Non ethical actions will hinder the development of a competitive economy, provide opportunity for unregistered structures, influence the market system badly and therefore will cause the non-efficient utilisation of resources.

Since its establishment, TÜSİAD has been working along this direction and is aiming to forestall attitudes and behaviours which do not comply with business ethics as well as advocating that the sensitivity of all individuals in the society, of public and private bodies to the ethics issue needs to increase. Having published a report on  “Code of Conduct” in the year 1992, TÜSİAD has been the pioneer in this field by adding the principles to its Regulation in 1995. TÜSİAD expects its members and institutions, abroad and in Turkey, to act in accordance with these ethical principles and rules towards the individuals and institutions they are conducting a business with, towards the society, their customers, suppliers, partners and employees.
