The mission of The Institut du Bosphore is to bolster links between France and Turkey
The Institut du Bosphore represents a free and objective think-tank supporting an ongoing dialogue and discussions.
The Institut du Bosphore debates topics such as global politics, economy, social and cultural issues with a view to highlighting Turkey’s involvement in global society and in particular its close ties with the European Union and France. It facilitates common reflection of French and Turkish people on Europe and current global issues.
The Institut du Bosphore is an independent organization bringing together high-level Turkish and French personalities from various backgrounds including politicians, businessmen, economists, experts and intellectuals.

- Inauguration: Press Meeting (08 September 2009, Paris)
The press meeting of the Institut du Bosphore Opening was realized in Pavillon Kleber, Paris on 08 September. Institut President Haluk Tukel, Scientific Committee members; Umit Boyner, Henri de Castries, Pekin Baran and Gilles Veinstein presented the institute’s raison d’etre and its planned activities for 2010. Ensuingly, Q&A session was conducted.

“Turkey/Europe: Starting Over & Reconstructing Turkey – EU Relations”

The Bosporus Institute is a permanent think tank, where the major issues affecting the relationship between France and Turkey are debated throughout the year. These debates take place during meetings of the Scientific Committee, meetings with the public and result in regular issue of papers and reports.
However the major work of the Bosporus Institute is focused on the annual seminar. This initial event was held in Istanbul and offered the opportunity to broaden discussions to Turkey’s position in Europe and in the world today. This is a broader theme that goes beyond the France-Turkey relationship, thereby attracting prominent European personalities.
The initial annual seminar, which represents the first ever event for the Bosporus Institute treated a daring theme that sparked robust debate: “Turkey/Europe: Starting Over & Reconstructing Turkey – EU Relations”.
- Institut du Bosphore Scientific Committee Meeting (23 November 2009, Paris)
The first Scientific Committee meeting was held in Paris on 23 November. During the meeting, the outcomes of the first seminar were evaluated and further, the activity program for 2010 was elaborated. Publications, seminars and conferences that are planned to be organized were scrutinized by the members.
