With the opening of the accession negotiations of Turkey for EU membership, a need has risen to communicate Turkey and Turks better at the level of EU public opinion. Acting upon this necessity, TÜSİAD has established the “Country Communication Fund” in 2005 in order to finance the Country Communication Committee and the communication activities. The Committee carries out activities to overcome prejudices of the EU decision makers and public opinion on Turkey.

The Committee carries out projects in Germany and France in cooperation with Europe’s leading public relations companies. In this context, seminars, conferences, press tours were organized; newspaper supplements were issued and various advertisement campaigns were realized during the period between 2005-2007.
In 2009, a think tank entitled “Paris Bosphorus Institute – L’Association de L’Institut du Bosphore ”(www.institut-bosphore.org) has been established in Paris in order to participate scientifically to the debate in France about Turkey’s ultimate accession to the EU, its consequences and the cultural, social and economic peculiarities of Turkey and its commonalities with France.
